2/3: Garden Design I – Basics of habitat design
- 1.5 hour talk on ways to design habitat and why
- .5 hour instruction on creating your base map

2/10: Garden Design II – Process, composition, and aesthetics
- 1 hour talking NBN design method
- 1 hour reviewing base maps + instruction on taking inventory, designing plant list, layout & design

2/17: Techniques I – Planning and preparation
- 1 hour talk on methods
- 1 hour review of maps/inventory/plant list + make a site prep plan

2/24: Techniques II – Planting and stewardship
- 1 hour talk on methods
- 1 hour to work on garden design plans + wrap-up
This is a 4-part garden design class that will provide you with EVERYTHING YOU NEED to know to plan and implement a native habitat garden. We will lean heavy on design and share all of our best practices as we work through individual garden plans —that’s right, at the end of this class series, you will have an executable garden design and the tools to make it a reality.
Supplies list: 11x17 graph paper, 11x17 roll trace paper, markers and pens with varying tips, white pearl eraser (or similar). NOTE: Instructions will be provided for creating your landscape base map image during our first class.
